10.7 Restored 1983. The restored home ready for new tenants in early 1983. Since the CAMAL Foundation had to take out a quarter million dollar mortgage, renters were essential. The CAMAL Foundation had paid the mortgage by 1998, os it was then able to sell the building to the private sector in 1999, with protective heritage covenants on the land title for the exterior and some of the interior. The sale then allowed the CAMAL Foundation to purchase the original oak contents of the 1906 Royal Alexandra Hall, which was then in planning stages at the new facilities of the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel. Without this sale, there would be no Royal Alexandra Hall today. CBK.1986.034.005
