17.1 Aerial View of Downtown Cranbrook from the northeast early 1930’s. This remarkable view shows Cranbrook St (also Highway 3/95) heading into the city before the stone highway arches were built at the city limits at the first intersection at the bottom of the photo. Central School is a massive building that dominates much of this area. Cranbrook St turns to the right (west) onto Baker and then to Van Horne were it turn to the south-west again and heads along beside the railway property and out of town in the distance. To the far right is the large Crestbtrook Forest Mill and sawdust/ woodchips piles. Hut above that is St. Eugene hospital at the edge
of the photo. Much more detail is available on these types of photos that help explain changes over the years. CBK..2001.001.003
