20.1 Aerial View of Cranbrook from the west 1970’s. This shows
many changes that have taken place since the first aerial photos of
the 1930’s, particularly the disappearance of both the north-east and
south-west railway gardens and the modernization of the railway
station in the lower foreground, and the construction of Mall across
the east end of Baker St where the Courthouse used to stand. The
highway, however, is still routed through the downtown area from
Van Horne onto Baker and then onto Cranbrook Street creating
increasing congestion as highway traffic grows considerably through
the 1960’s and 70’s. CBK.1980.042.002
