Other Trans-Canada Limited Cars Arrive
The "River Rouge" in 1980 before restoration.
First to join the "Argyle" in 1978 was full baggage No. 4481 (former combination
baggage / sleeper No. 4481), followed by sleeping car "Rutherglen" (eight sections,
two compartments, one drawing room) and solarium lounge-car "River Rouge."
The "River Rouge," a famous "tail-end" car, had even found as a derelict CPR pipe
fitters' work car at North Bend, in the Fraser Canyon, east of Vancouver. Its
lounges and bath shower facilities have since been meticulously restored, returning
the car to its status as the lobby and social centre of the hotel on wheels.
