Temporary Community Exhibition Gallery in the Baggage Car

Table SettingBy the early 1980's, the Cranbrook Railway Museum had turned into a short, maroon passenger train, seen daily by most residents thanks to its central location, a spot that gave a visual bonus to downtown shoppers and business people. As the museum grew, so did its value to the community—people became more enthusiastic. The baggage car, then used as a community exhibition gallery for art and historical displays, drew crowds of visitors who invariably lingered aboard the luxurious Argyle, admiring its tables set with silverware and its varnished walls of inlaid black walnut, and enjoying specialty coffees and teas with hot scones, whipped cream, and jam.
