To nourish the train's public profile, the museum promoted the natural charms of the
"Argyle." Combining the ingredients of the car's original intended use and the need
to raise additional operating and restoration funds, the museum created the idea of
offering specialty banquets in the dining car. Many of these dinners are designed
around famous passenger trains of the world, such as Egyptian cuisine for the Star
of Egypt, Japanese food for the Tokaido Bullet, and an Australian meal for the
Indian-Pacific Express. Dressed in formal wear or sometimes period costume,
guests have a chance to relive the halcyon days of the dining car.
