CHAPTER 4.
An Act respecting the British Columbia Southern Railway.
[17th April 1896.]
WHEREAS, by an Act passed at the present Session of the present Legislature,
intituled the "British Columbia Southern RailwayAct Amendment Act,
1896," the time for the completion of the several sections of the said railway
has been extended:
And whereas it is advisable to continue the existing land grant to the said railway:
Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative
Assembly of the Province of British Coluiribia, enacts as follows:
- This Act may be cited as the "British Columbia Southern Railway Aid
Amendment Act, 1896."
- It shall be a sufficient compliance with the provisions of the "Railway
Aid Act, 1890," as amended by the two Acts of the Legislature of this
Province passed in the 56th year of Her Majestv's reign chap 36, and in the
57th year of Her Majesty's reign, chap. 39, to entitle the British Columbia
Southern Railway Company to the grant by said Acts authorized, that the said
Company shall construct and equip the several sections of its line of railway
within the times specified in the Act of the present Session, intituled the
"British Columbia Southern Railway Company's Act Amendment Act,
1896."
- Nothing in this Act, and no grant to be made hereunder, shall be construed to
interfere with free miners entering upon and searching for minerals and
acquiring claims in accordance with the mining laws of the Province.
