Mine Rescue

A mine rescue team of the Crow's Nest Pass Coal Company at Michel. The miners are carrying breathing apparatus and safety lamps.

Left to right: Thomas Cunliffe; Andrew Frew (died at Cumberland on Vancouver Island on January 17, 1942 from injuries sustained on January 16, 1942); Thomas Phillips, killed in an explosion at Michel, No. 3 Mine on August 8, 1916; Joseph Mason; and George Augustus O'Brien (identity uncertain), Superintendent of the Mine Rescue Station, who died on December 26, 1937.
